IDEAL is an instrument that performs fully automated purification of nucleic acids from 24 samples using magnetic beads. Automated steps include lysis of samples, binding of nucleic acids to magnetic beads, washing and elution of nucleic acids.
After choosing the extraction protocols to be used through the software interface, the user sets up the machine using the touch panel, loads the different solutions, samples, the tip comb to protect the magnetic head onto the IDEAL turntable. The user then closes the workstation cover and starts the protocol. The protocol provides all the necessary instructions for the IDEAL to carry out automated nucleic acid purification. The transfer of samples into the different reagents and the separation of the nucleic acid from magnetic beads are performed by the 24-channel pipettor head to ensure excellent reproducibility and minimize the handling time required for the extraction and purification of the nucleic acids.
